Position Description

Job Description
In this Home Infusion Nurse Supervisor (RN) role you will practice your leadership, clinical and administrative skills in a growing specialized area of the nursing field that provides a broad range of infusion therapies in our patients’ homes.

In this exciting new role, you and your team will be responsible for the scheduling of our New York City team of nurses and determining the suitability of our services for our patients.

Challenge your personal clinical nursing (RN) skills by receiving continuous training on leading edge technology and clinical requirements in specialty infusion then transfer the appropriate level of understanding to your team so they will be as efficient and productive as they can be. Certification and re-certification expenses can be reimbursed for eligible RN’s such as Certified Registered Nurse of Infusion (CRNI)!

As a Nurse Supervisor, you will…
- Hire, evaluate and mentor a team of Nurse Schedulers who work to manage the master schedule for our nurses working in New York City, Long Island and Westchester County.
- Play a major role in determining the care planning and suitability of a patient for home infusion by ensuring they have needed resources/support to safely administer their medications in their home. This work is done with our Coram CVS Sales team and with our referral sources.
- Use your understanding of insurance coverage, Medicare etc., to ensure there is a source for payment and if challenges, work with the Authorization Department on a solution.
- Ensure patient charts are complete and accurate so nursing and billing teams have needed information to care for patients and to ensure payment for services.
- Triage telephone calls from patients who might have questions relating to their infusion (e.g., medication isn’t flowing through the tubing), our pumps, etc.
- Work with Nurse Manager to coordinate with subcontracted nursing agencies who assist us with patient visits.
- Use your clinical infusion knowledge and share with your team to help them effectively schedule 40-80 patient visits/day to meet the needs of our patients and nursing team. This includes an understanding of the lengths of time infusions will take and scheduling the appropriate nurses with the appropriate patients depending on skill set and location of both parties.
- Implement new policies and programs with your team.
- Support the sales team as needed with new clinical programs and/or marketing activities to physicians, nursing agencies, and referral sources.
- Escalate patient-care issues to the appropriate Nurse Supervisor
- Work through change orders on the plan of care and manage discharge orders
- Have excellent written and verbal customer service skills and advanced computer skills in order to interact with key partners and patients.
